The Blazer nameplate is scheduled to return to the US after more than a decade of retirement. But it’s expected to appear on a crossover, rather than a truck-based SUV. Chevrolet, as we know, is currently testing prototypes of the 2019 model outside GM’s Milford Proving Grounds.
Chevrolet is scheduled to introduce a new model that fits between the compact Equinox and the full-size Traverse. The Blazer will get the same wheelbase as the new GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5, though it will be shorter than the Acadia and, like the XT5, it should only get two rows of seats. It will be powered by both four and six-cylinder engines, and is likely to be mated to the new 9-speed automatic.
Competing against the likes of the Ford Edge, Nissan Murano and the upcoming Honda 2-row crossover, the Blazer is expected to arrive next year as a 2019 model year offering
