What to Do with Old Appliances

If you are replacing your wash machine, stove, or refrigerator, you are either having fun because you are renovating your home or you are going through a frustrating situation because the old appliance is broken. No matter what, you are going to have to decide what to do with the old appliance. Here are a few suggestions.

Depending on where you purchased your new appliance, you may be able to ask the store where you purchased it to take away your old appliance. In most cases, when the delivery guys come to drop off the new appliance, they can take the old one away for a small fee. While this may not be the most economical option, there’s no doubt about the fact that it is the easiest option.

You may be able to sell your old appliances and get a couple of bucks. This is a great option for individuals who are renovating their kitchen. All the money they can hold onto or make is helpful. What if the appliance is broken? It may be a simple matter of buying new parts and hiring someone to repair the appliance. For example, you may only need a power splitter combiner if you have a broken microwave.

Another option is to give away your old appliances. If you know someone who is a need, they would likely appreciate the help. Or you can give it to charitable organizations or secondhand stores. In some cases, they may pick up the items for free.

You could call a commercial junk hauler and have them take away the old appliances. This is a good option if the appliances are really old and cannot be repaired. You will likely have to pay the company to haul the junk away. Make sure that you find out what is going to happen to the appliance once it is removed from your property. You want to make sure that it is recycled properly.

Deciding what to do with old appliances can be a bit of a headache. However, the above-mentioned options will prove to be helpful and may even earn you a couple of dollars in cash.
